Root-mean-square radius of gyration

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010407

A measure of the average size of a polymer coil in solution or in the melt, representing the root-mean-square distance of the polymer segments from its center of mass. It provides insight into the spatial extent and conformation of a macromolecule. This value can be determined experimentally through techniques such as light scattering or small-angle neutron scattering.
