Quadratic mean
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009718
The square root of the arithmetic mean of the squares of a set of values. To calculate it, each value in a data set is squared, the average of these squared values is determined, and then the square root of that average is taken. This statistical measure, also known as the root mean square (RMS), is always greater than or equal to the arithmetic mean for any given set of non-negative numbers.
