Root-mean-square end-to-end distance

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010405

A statistical measure of the average spatial separation between the two ends of a polymer chain, accounting for all possible conformations. It is calculated as the square root of the average of the squared distances between the chain ends. This parameter provides insight into the overall size and extent of a polymer coil in solution or in the melt.
