Mean-square end-to-end distance of a freely rotating chain

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007085

The average of the square of the distance between the ends of a polymer chain where bond angles are fixed, but rotation around each bond is completely free and independent. This model provides a more realistic representation of polymer chain dimensions than the freely jointed chain. It accounts for the geometric constraints imposed by bond angles.
