Freely rotating chain

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004663

A theoretical model of a polymer chain where the bond angles between adjacent segments are fixed, but rotation around these bonds is entirely unrestricted. This model accounts for the fixed bond angles in real polymer chains while still allowing for conformational flexibility. It provides a more realistic representation than the freely jointed chain model for many polymers.
