Self-avoiding random-walk chain

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010704

A theoretical model for a polymer chain where the chain segments are not allowed to occupy the same spatial position, thus avoiding self-intersection. This model accounts for the excluded volume effect, which is a fundamental property of real polymer chains in good solvents. The self-avoiding random walk provides a more realistic representation of polymer conformation compared to a simple random walk.
