Random sampling
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009923
A procedure for selecting a subset of items from a larger population or lot where each item has an equal and independent probability of being chosen. This method is designed to produce a representative subset, free from selection bias, for subsequent analysis or model building. In chemometrics, random sampling is foundational for creating calibration and validation sets to assess the predictive performance of a model.
