Sampling error

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010504

The random or systematic deviation of a sample's characteristics from those of the population from which it was drawn. This error arises because a sample is only a subset of the whole and may not perfectly represent it. It is an inherent part of any analytical process involving sampling and contributes to overall measurement uncertainty.
