Stratified sampling
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011460
A sampling procedure in which a heterogeneous population is first divided into distinct, non-overlapping subgroups called strata, based on shared attributes or characteristics. A random sample is then drawn from each individual stratum, rather than from the population as a whole. The size of the sample taken from each stratum is often proportional to the relative size of that stratum within the total population.
