Sampling
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013521
The process of selecting and taking a portion of a material that is representative of the whole, intended for testing or analysis. The objective is to obtain a sample whose properties correspond to the bulk material from which it was taken, within the limits of a specified precision. The portion of material selected is defined as the primary sample, which may be subsequently reduced in size to create a laboratory sample.
