Aliquot

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000389

A known volume or mass of a homogeneous material, taken as a representative portion of the whole for the purpose of chemical analysis or testing. The portion is assumed to have the same composition and properties as the bulk material from which it was drawn. In volumetric analysis, an aliquot is a specific volume of a solution transferred using a calibrated pipette.
