Sample
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010491
A part taken from a larger amount of material so that its properties or composition can be used to draw conclusions about the whole. For those conclusions to hold, the sample must be representative of the bulk it came from. How much is taken, and in what form, depends on the analytical method to be applied and on how homogeneous the material is.
