Test portion

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011889

A specific quantity of material, precisely measured by mass or volume, that is removed from the test sample for the purpose of a single analytical determination. It is the final aliquot of material upon which the actual measurement or observation is performed. For a heterogeneous test sample, multiple test portions are analyzed to obtain a representative average value and an estimate of the variability within the sample.
