Minimum sample size
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013292
The smallest mass or volume of a test sample that is representative of the original material and sufficient for a measurement procedure to be performed. This quantity must be large enough to meet the required performance characteristics of the analysis, such as the target measurement uncertainty. For heterogeneous materials, the minimum sample size is determined by the scale of heterogeneity and the desired level of sampling error.
