Minimum significant difference
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007400
The smallest difference between the mean of a control group and the mean of a treatment group that is statistically significant at a specified alpha level. It is used in hypothesis testing to determine the lowest concentration of a substance that produces a detectable effect compared to the untreated control. This value is calculated following an analysis of variance (ANOVA) and depends on the chosen significance level (e.g., p < 0.05), the sample size, and the variability within the data.
