Mixing

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013295

The process of combining two or more distinct substances to achieve a uniform distribution of their components throughout the resulting mixture. This operation is performed to reduce heterogeneity within a sample or to prepare a homogeneous solution for analysis. Proper mixing is necessary to obtain a representative aliquot for chemical analysis, thereby minimizing sampling error.
