Acute toxicity test

A study conducted to determine the adverse effects that occur within a short period after a single exposure to a substance or multiple exposures within 24 hours. This test assesses the immediate toxic potential of a chemical. The observation period for mortality and other effects typically extends for 14 days after exposure.
