Chronic toxicity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002065
Adverse effects that occur as a result of repeated or continuous exposure to a substance over a long period, representing a substantial portion of an organism's lifespan. These effects develop slowly and persist or progress even after exposure ceases, contrasting with acute toxicity from short-term exposure. Regulatory testing for chronic toxicity in rodents for carcinogenicity assessment is conducted over a two-year period.
