Delayed effect
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002964
A biological response to exposure to a chemical agent that manifests after a period of latency following the initial exposure. The onset of the effect is not immediate but occurs at some later time, which can range from days to years. This phenomenon is observed in chronic toxicity studies, where effects like carcinogenicity or neurotoxicity may develop long after exposure ceases.
