Delayed-type hypersensitivity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002969
A cell-mediated immune reaction that manifests 24 to 72 hours after exposure to an antigen, involving activated T lymphocytes rather than antibodies. This type of hypersensitivity is responsible for contact dermatitis and the immune response to certain intracellular pathogens. The tuberculin skin test is a classic example.
