Footpad test
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004583
An in vivo assay used to assess cell-mediated immunity or delayed-type hypersensitivity in rodents. An animal is first sensitized to an antigen, and after a specific period, the same antigen is injected into the footpad. The resulting swelling at the injection site, measured with a caliper after 24 to 48 hours, indicates the strength of the immune response.
