Cell-mediated hypersensitivity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001784
A delayed-type hypersensitivity reaction, also known as Type IV hypersensitivity, that is initiated by T lymphocytes rather than antibodies. It involves the activation of T helper cells and macrophages, leading to inflammation and tissue damage typically 24 to 72 hours after antigen exposure. Examples include contact dermatitis and the tuberculin skin test.
