Contact hypersensitivity

A delayed-type hypersensitivity reaction of the immune system that occurs after skin exposure to a sensitizing agent. This immune response leads to inflammation and skin lesions at the site of contact. It is a cell-mediated immune reaction, typically peaking 24 to 72 hours after re-exposure to the allergen.
