Contact poison

A toxic substance that exerts its harmful effects through direct absorption upon external contact with an organism's surface, rather than through ingestion or inhalation. These poisons penetrate the skin or cuticle to reach internal systems. Many insecticides and herbicides function as contact poisons, affecting pests upon physical interaction.
