Aphicide

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012879

A chemical substance, a type of insecticide, specifically intended to kill aphids. These agents can act as contact poisons upon direct application, as stomach poisons upon ingestion, or systemically by being absorbed and translocated throughout the plant's tissues, making the sap toxic to feeding aphids. Chemical classes of compounds used as aphicides include neonicotinoids, pyrethroids, and organophosphates, each with distinct modes of action on the insect's nervous system.
