Ectoparasiticide

A chemical agent used to kill or repel parasites that live on the exterior surface of an animal host. These substances are applied topically or administered systemically to control infestations by ticks, fleas, mites, and lice. Common examples include pyrethroids and fipronil, which disrupt the nervous system of the parasites.
