Biological agent

A microorganism, toxin, or other substance derived from living organisms that can cause disease or adverse health effects in humans, animals, or plants. This includes bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites, and their metabolic products. Such agents are often studied in the context of infectious diseases or bioterrorism.
