Minimum inhibitory concentration

The lowest concentration of an antimicrobial agent that inhibits the visible growth of a microorganism after overnight incubation. This quantitative measure is a standard method for assessing the susceptibility of bacteria and fungi to antibiotics. It is expressed in units of micrograms per milliliter (µg/mL).
