Direct toxicity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003264
The adverse effects on an organism that arise from its direct exposure to a toxic substance, without any intermediate biological or environmental processes. This contrasts with indirect toxicity, where the harm is mediated through other factors. An example is the immediate death of an aquatic organism upon contact with a high concentration of a specific chemical.
