Toxic substance

Any substance that can produce adverse health effects in an organism, either through direct exposure or by interfering with normal biological processes. These effects can range from mild irritation to severe illness, organ damage, or death, depending on the dose, duration of exposure, and individual susceptibility. Examples include heavy metals, pesticides, and certain industrial chemicals.
