Toxic unit
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012161
A way of expressing the concentration of a toxicant as a multiple of the concentration lethal to half the test organisms, found by dividing the measured concentration by the LC50 for the species and exposure time used. One toxic unit therefore equals the LC50, and the toxic units of the components of a mixture are summed to estimate its combined toxicity under concentration addition.
