Median lethal concentration
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007125
The concentration of a chemical in the air or water surrounding test animals that is expected to kill half of them during a stated exposure time, found by statistical analysis of a series of exposure levels. Written LC50, it is a standard index of acute toxicity and is reported in units such as mg/L or ppm. A lower LC50 means a more toxic substance.
