Lethality

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006527

The capacity of a substance or environmental condition to cause death in a living organism. In toxicology, it is a measure of the adverse effects of a toxicant, quantified by determining the dose or concentration that results in the death of a specified percentage of a test population. This is often expressed as the median lethal dose (LD50) or median lethal concentration (LC50).
