Indirect toxicity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005783

The adverse effects on an organism that are not caused by direct exposure to a toxic substance but rather by alterations in its environment or food source. This can occur through trophic transfer or habitat degradation. For example, a pesticide might not directly harm a bird but reduces its insect prey population, leading to starvation.
