Cell-mediated cytotoxicity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001783
The process by which certain immune cells directly kill target cells without the involvement of antibodies. This mechanism primarily involves cytotoxic T lymphocytes and natural killer cells, which recognize and destroy infected or cancerous cells. The recognition of target cells often involves major histocompatibility complex molecules.
