Antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000665

A mechanism of immune defense where target cells coated with antibodies are recognized and lysed by certain immune effector cells. These effector cells, such as natural killer cells, bind to the Fc region of the antibodies. This binding triggers the release of cytotoxic substances, leading to the destruction of the target cell.
