T-cell-dependent antibody response

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011837

An immune pathway for antibody production that requires the direct interaction and collaboration between B lymphocytes and helper T lymphocytes. B cells present a processed antigen to a specific helper T cell, which in turn provides signals that stimulate the B cell to proliferate, differentiate into plasma cells, and produce high-affinity antibodies. This response generates long-lived memory B cells and is characteristic of the immune reaction to protein antigens.
