Secondary challenge
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010609
The re-exposure of an organism to an antigen after an initial priming exposure, leading to a more rapid and potent immune response. This subsequent encounter stimulates memory lymphocytes, which proliferate and differentiate quickly to produce a heightened immune reaction. The secondary response is characterized by a faster onset and higher antibody titers than the primary response.
