Secondary crystallization

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010610

The process of further ordering and perfection of crystalline regions in a polymer after the initial primary crystallization has occurred. This can involve the growth of smaller, less perfect crystals or the rearrangement of existing lamellae. Secondary crystallization typically proceeds at a slower rate than primary crystallization and can significantly influence the final properties of the polymer.
