Dominant lamellae

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003377

The population of crystalline lamellae that forms during the primary crystallization stage of a polymer from the melt under specific thermal conditions. These lamellae are thicker and more stable than those formed during subsequent cooling or annealing steps. In differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis, the melting of dominant lamellae corresponds to the main, higher-temperature endotherm, distinct from the melting peak of any subsidiary lamellae.
