Reorganization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010183
A process in which a polymer that has already undergone primary crystallization experiences further structural changes upon annealing at a temperature between its crystallization temperature and melting point. These changes involve the thickening of existing lamellar crystals, perfection of the crystal lattice, or the melting of less stable crystals followed by recrystallization into a more stable form. This leads to an increase in the overall degree of crystallinity and melting temperature.
