Melting

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007151

A phase transition process where a substance changes from a solid state to a liquid state, typically occurring at a specific temperature known as the melting point. This transformation involves the absorption of heat energy, which overcomes the intermolecular forces holding the solid structure together. The reverse process is called freezing or solidification.
