Melting
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000227
The phase transition of a material from a solid to a liquid state, occurring when its internal energy increases sufficiently to overcome the forces holding its atoms or molecules in a fixed structure. In additive manufacturing, this process is precisely controlled to fuse powdered materials or filaments into desired geometries. The melting point of a material is a specific temperature at which this transition occurs at standard atmospheric pressure.
