Melting temperature
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000228
The specific temperature at which a solid material transitions into a liquid state. In additive manufacturing processes that involve melting, such as selective laser melting or fused deposition modeling, the energy source must heat the material above this point to achieve proper fusion and layer bonding. For a semi-crystalline polymer like PEEK, this temperature is a distinct value, around 343°C, whereas amorphous polymers soften over a glass transition range.
