Selective laser melting

Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000339

A powder bed fusion additive manufacturing process that uses a high-power laser to selectively melt and fuse metallic powders together, layer by layer. The process occurs in a controlled atmosphere, typically with inert gas, to prevent oxidation and maintain material properties. It produces fully dense metal parts with complex geometries and high mechanical strength, suitable for functional prototypes and end-use components.
