Primary nucleus
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009437
A stable, microscopic region of ordered polymer chains that forms spontaneously from a disordered melt or solution during the initial stages of crystallization. This entity acts as a template for further crystal growth, initiating the formation of larger crystalline structures. Its formation requires overcoming an energy barrier, and its size must exceed a certain threshold to be stable.
