Primary photoproduct

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009441

The molecular entity formed directly from the primary photochemical process, which is the immediate consequence of light absorption by a reactant molecule. This product may be unstable and undergo further reactions, but it represents the first stable or transient species generated by the photon's energy. It is distinct from secondary products formed in subsequent dark reactions.
