Primary species
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009450
The initial radical or ionic species formed directly from the decomposition or activation of an initiator molecule in a chain polymerization. These species then react with monomer units to begin the propagation of polymer chains. The efficiency of primary species formation directly influences the overall rate and success of the polymerization process.
