Chain propagation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001846
The step in chain polymerization where an active polymer chain reacts with a monomer molecule, adding it to the growing chain and regenerating the active site. This process leads to the increase in molecular weight of the polymer. The rate of propagation is a key kinetic parameter in polymerization reactions.
