Cross-propagation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002727
A propagation reaction in the formation of a copolymer where a growing polymer chain with an active center from one monomer species adds a molecule of a different monomer species. This process competes with homopropagation, where the chain adds a monomer of its own type. The relative rates of cross-propagation and homopropagation are quantified by reactivity ratios, which determine the overall composition and sequence distribution of the resulting copolymer.
